Koutaro Uranaka is a talented metalwork artist who has captured the hearts of many with his stunning pieces. He was first introduced to the world of metalworking when he saw his teacher forge iron into soft expressions, and from that moment on, he was hooked. With a burning passion for metalworking, he went on to study at the Tohoku University of Art and Design, where he honed his skills and learned the basics of metalworking.

Today, Koutaro continues to create beautiful works based on the theme of memory. He uses his own memories and those of others as inspiration and works tirelessly to express the colors, transparency, scenery, and signs created by the passage of time through metal materials.

Koutaro's style is known for its reflection of northern shapes on metals such as pure copper, tin, brass, and silver. He creates contrast by using a combination of the silver color of tin and the black color produced by sulfurizing copper, and he often draws ideas and motifs for his work from nature. Born and raised in a rainy area, and later trained as a goldsmith in a region with heavy snowfall, he is often inspired by water phenomena, such as snow flurries, winter rain, melting ice, and icicles.
